Welcome to our "Art for All", Autism Awareness Art Club Page

Our Next meeting is November 15th

We believe that art is a great way to inspire, empower and unite children and their community through education, arts and culture.
Through our Art for All, Art Club we would like to connect ALL students by working together on projects that will benefit both the students as individuals as well as raise awareness and help the Autism community.
Our club is student led and would not be a success without the students. The students selected as leaders help to create, prepare and implement all projects for our art club. They also help hand out snack and supplies during meetings, create our bulletin boards, and clean up the art room after our meetings. This years art club leaders include:
Katie Alexander, Sarah Chase, Braeden Coleman, Shane Matthews, Samantha Puglia, Cassie Soos, David Vaiksnoras, Mackenzie Volanti and Abby Zappola. Thank you leaders for a great first meeting.

September 27th Meeting: Welcome to our Art Club!

During our first meeting we:

  • Discussed what Autism is and how to be a good friend to an individual with Autism.
  • Created Puzzle Pieces with our names on them to be displayed on our Art Club bulletin board. This will show everyone in the school who is part of this great club.
  • Created a fall leaf project. Students traced their hands as the tree trunk and branches. They then used real fall leaves as "stamps" to apply leaves to their trees. (Thank you club leaders for finding the leaves for us)
I am so impressed by this amazing group of students. It always makes me so happy to see ALL of our students working and creating together. Art is such a great equalizer and has such a great way of bringing people together. All of our art club students were interacting, socializing and creating together. I am so grateful and honored to be a part of this group and thank you all for sharing your students with us.

October 18th Meeting: Spooky Fun

Project 1: Kindness Rocks

On a recent stroll around my parents property, I started collecting some really great rocks. I just new we had to do something with them. After a little research I found the perfect project with, "Kindness Rocks," The idea is to create positive messages on the rocks and leave them somewhere within the community for someone else to find and to brighten their day. This seemed like such a perfect message for our "Art for All" Club. First students selected a color to paint the top of the rock. They then used Sharpie Paint Markers to add a nice message or image. Students were instructed to take their rocks with them and place them somewhere within the community. Make sure you look around as you are out an about, you never know where you may find one. All of the rocks have "created by EMS, Art for All, Autism Awareness Art Club on the bottom.

Project 2: Monsters

For our second project, we created drawings of Monsters that look like they are busting through the paper. These projects came out really well and are currently being displayed in our school lobby to help get everyone into the Halloween Spirit.
